Using this tool you can make NYTimes and Guardian-style crosswords as well as criss-cross style, and they're all free to solve. You don't need an account, and there's nothing to install.

How to make a Czech crossword
Czech puzzling is unusually organised, with clubs, competitions and a set of named puzzle types with strict rules. The everyday křížovka is built around the tajenka: a phrase, proverb or punchline spelled out by the letters in marked squares and revealed only when the grid is complete. Its clue is often the puzzle's title.
These puzzles drop the tajenka, so the grid itself is the puzzle. They are also not the švédská křížovka, which Czech names after Sweden as German does, with clues printed inside shaded squares and arrows pointing at the answers. Here the grid is numbered and the clues are listed beside it under Vodorovně (across) and Svisle (down).
Alphabet
CH takes two squares, and every mark is kept
CH is a letter of the Czech alphabet, filed between H and I, and a traditional křížovka gives it one square. Here it takes two, because every square on this site holds a single character in every language. CHLÉB is five squares, not four.
The marked letters stay exactly as written. Á, Č, Ď, É, Ě, Í, Ň, Ó, Ř, Š, Ť, Ú, Ů, Ý and Ž each take their own square and must be typed as themselves. In Czech the mark often decides the word: MED is honey and MĚĎ is copper, RADA is a council and ŘADA is a row, MYS is a cape and MYŠ is a mouse, TVAR is a shape and TVÁŘ is a face.
Czech words cluster in the middle. The Czech dictionary is thickest at eight letters and thins out quickly after that, with eight-letter words outnumbering fifteen-letter ones by more than twenty to one. German and Turkish still have plenty to offer at lengths where Czech is running short.
Answers here tend to sit in that middle band: KLENOTNÍK (jeweller), NEKONEČNO (infinity), PŘESKOČIT (to jump over), VÝTVARNÍK (visual artist).
Czech film subtitles are often typed without their marks, which turns MÍT into MIT, MŮJ into MUJ and TÁTA into TATA. Those stripped spellings are not used as answers here.

No. Czech crosswords usually hide a phrase in marked squares to be read out once the grid is full. These have none. Filling the grid is the whole puzzle.

Yes. Every marked letter is a letter in its own right. MED and MĚĎ, RADA and ŘADA, MYS and MYŠ are all different words. A Czech keyboard layout makes solving much easier.
No. The .puz format stores one byte per square and cannot hold Č, Ř, Š, Ž, Ě or Ů, so it is disabled for Czech. Printing to PDF and sharing the puzzle link both keep the spelling intact.
